While the Government is bringing an ordinance to increase the maximum punishment under the POCSO act to the death penalty, the crimes against minor girls are not decreasing. The current case is of the Indore where an 8-months old baby girl has been raped by a relative of girl’s mother. As per the police, the reason for the rape was an argument that happened earlier night between the accused and the girl’s mother. The accused has accepted that he has raped and killed the girl in order to take revenge from the child’s mother.
HC Mishra, deputy inspector-general of police, Indore has informed the Press Trust of India (PTI) that the Parents of the victim are balloon sellers and they were sleeping on the footpath along with their daughter when the accused kidnapped her and took her to the basement of a building nearly 50 metres away from the spot where the child’s parents were sleeping. The body of the infant was recovered in the afternoon when a shopkeeper found her lying on the ground in the basement.

At The Voice Raiser, we are trying to get to you the news about all the minor rapes that are being done in India nearly every day. It’s not that these rapes have started to happen suddenly, the rapes did happen earlier as well at the same pace but people were not very concerned about the same. After the rape of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua, there has been a feeling of guilt and agitation among the people of Indians, but you need to know that in the past 6 days, there have been 5 rapes against minors in Odisha alone. In Etah of Uttar Pradesh, a nine-year-old girl was raped and strangled on Thursday night when she was attending a marriage function with her family. In a similar case, a 10-year old girl was raped and killed in Chhatisgarh on Wednesday during a wedding function. Just a couple of days ago, an 11-year old girl was brutally raped in murdered in Surat district of Gujarat.
So, the rapes with minors are not stopping and might not stop in future as well until our government and the Supreme Court decides to make some serious changes in the way our Judiciary system works in order to ensure a speedy and trustworthy justice.
